Cafiero Select proprietor is David Cafiero, a 2019 Architectural Digest Top 100 member, who decided to create a home decor store located in Manhattan’s East Village. The studio-style is eclectic, pragmatic, quietly sensual like a Yankee just returned from early 20th century Paris. In this article, we will take a journey through the eclectic living room ideas from Cafiero Select!
Cafiero Select
A longtime resident of Provincetown, David Cafiero has also been deeply influenced by its salt-air worn woods, shifting, elemental light, and its long relationship with abstract expressionism. His work has been featured in Architectural Digest, The World of Interiors, Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily, House & Garden, Lonny, City Magazine, New York Daily News, Self Service and Apartamento.
Cafiero Select
Cafiero Select specializes in a refined mix of 18th, 19th, and 20th-century classics, late-century modern, Asian antiques and custom pieces from some of the most influential and creative designers and manufacturers. They believe that “an interior should exult in its eccentricities. It should tell its own story. There’s always a moment when an interior announces itself when it takes on a story of its own”.
Cafiero Select – West Village Townhouse
This living room project by Cafiero Select counts with an art inspiration piece. “A Worker” (1986) by David Wojnarowicz is shown here in the main floor parlour of Ryan Murphy’s townhouse. Wojnarowicz’s stunning images and text fiercely criticize what he called the pre-invented world. His work is bold, colourful, sensual, and erotic. The furnishings have a neutral colour palette to contrast with the colourful painting.
