RULE: Pick a chandelier about half the width of your dining table.
We’re starting with chandeliers. To maximise this type of lighting design you must adapt your chandelier to the room’s length and width in feet. From vintage chandeliers to modern chandeliers, we might have the right choice in the chandelier for you.
RULE: Center a chandelier on the table, not the room.
This might be obvious but sometimes it’s better to say it again. The chandelier must be centred around a dining table. Be it chandelier or a pendant, a mid-century chandelier might be the one to look for when are looking for options.
RULE: For rectangular chandeliers give at least 6″ from the edge of the table to chandelier on both sides.
According to dining room lighting rules, if you have a rectangular dining room you don’t want to add light overhead. Keep your light at the right distance from your table and will help you work well you the space within your room. Also, your dining room chandelier should never go past your table. Why? It makes your dining room get too heavy.
RULE: For multiple chandeliers above a dining table we recommend hanging them about 26 to 28 inches apart.
Imagine you have at least two chandeliers in your open floor plan. Chandeliers are a must-have. This rule will help you space your dining room and give that spacious aura you want. It will also help the light to diffuse evenly around the room rather than in one spot.
